Requiem goes all underground rave
this time around, featuring a collaboration with one of the
country’s longest running and most successful underground parties.
Riff Raff has been going for near enough 10 years, based out of
their home ground of the West Indian Centre in Leeds, and I can
safely say it has been my favourite gig. An extremely professional
party, the boys put in huge amounts of effort to every event
spending thousands on the décor, the setup, the visuals and the
sound system. The atmosphere they create is one of huge fun, and
anything goes, an atmosphere which I like to think Requiem has in
common.
The three residents will be coming
down to play for us. Oly NRG will be warming the place up playing
whatever he feels like playing, Selkirk will be bashing out a bit of
all sorts of techno, and Glowbones will be nailing the underground
hard house and EDM type vibes. All three DJs have appeared at
underground parties and festivals across the UK for many years and
probably know the music they play and the underground scene better
than almost anyone.
Headlining the event will be none
other than probably the most famous Acid Techno exponent the world
has seen, London legend, D.A.V.E. The Drummer AKA Henry Cullen.
Henry has achieved it all in the last couple of decades, with
numerous releases on his label Hydraulix, and almost every other
label out there from Stay Up Forever and Routemaster to Vicious
Circle and Nukleuz. He has played all over the world and at every
major event in the UK, regularly appearing at Hard House events like
Storm and Magna. Henry will be playing a very special 2 hour set of
the best techno in the world.
Backing up the underground guests
will be one of the rising stars of the Hard House scene in the UK,
Tom Urwin. Tom was the ideal choice for the guest slot to represent
Requiem with his liking for techno, psytrance and dirty music. You
can expect to hear a bit of everything from Tom, including some of
his own, hot-off-the-press productions. And of course resident and
promoter Dave Curtis will be playing, this time playing an early set
of funky techno.
